College Park is one of Orlando’s oldest neighborhoods, initially developed during the early 1900s around Dubsdread, an 18-hole public golf course that is lined with old and new homes. Like many established areas near downtown Orlando, Dubsdread has been undergoing a renaissance as smaller block homes on large lots are being demolished and replaced with new construction, typically larger two-story houses. Located just a few minutes from downtown, with easy access to Interstate 4, College Park has its own shopping and dining district that is within easy walking and biking distance for most residents. There is a wide variety of housing options, from 2-bedroom, 1-bath bungalows and condominiums to spacious four and five-bedroom houses, many of them remodeled or built within the past few years. People love living here because of the close proximity to major attractions, affordability, and highly-rated schools.
College Park has an eclectic mix of residents, ranging from young families and childless couples to people who have raised their families and stayed because they love the charm and convenience of the community. The roads, with few exceptions, are lightly traveled, often drawing walkers, runners, and cyclists. Edgewater Drive, the main street through College Park, is closed several times a year for community events, such as jazz/music festivals and a Christmas celebration. It’s difficult to find a more authentic and diversified neighborhood than College Park.
